It is October, which means it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While mortality rates have dropped 40% among women since 1989, this year about 276,480 American women are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 42,170 women are expected to die from the disease. As well as men. And this does not count the endless other forms of cancer who need vital research and services. But, together, we are stronger than cancer. Just like my sister, Godmother and friend Donna was when she beat breast cancer and as she continues to be a survivor and the countless other family and friends who have had to battle various forms of cancer.
Since 2020 has been such a unique year, I decided to join ACS Denim Days Sponsored by Buckle -- which brings us together to help in a fun and unique way to support the American Cancer Society. Working from home and not getting to do all the fun things we'd like has been a little bit of a bummer -- which is why I decided to do something fun throughout the month as I raise funds and awareness in this fight.
I would welcome any donations to my efforts! I've been amazed by all of the work by the American Cancer Society since I started to work with the organization at the beginning of the year not only for breast cancer, but all forms of cancer that affect those we all know and love. Together, we'll have some fun this month and help raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer.
