We are raising money for MiracleFeet in honor of Brody’s first birthday. MiracleFeet increases access to proper treatment for children born with clubfoot in developing countries through partnerships with local healthcare providers. Approximately 1 in 800 are born with clubfoot worldwide, about 80% live in developing countries. Brody was born with bilateral clubfoot, which means both of his feet were turned inward and downward. Thankfully, we live in a country with access to the most qualified doctors in the world. Not everyone is so lucky. He was treated with the Ponsetti Method, a nonsurgical approach using serial casting. He started treatment in Pittsburgh at just 10 days old with his first cast and had surgery when he was 7 weeks old to lengthen his Achilles tendon. Unfortunately he had a small set back due to improper casting and we decided to travel to see Dr. Dobbs at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Dobbs is one of the top clubfoot doctors. After another 3 sets of casts his feet were fully corrected. Since February Brody has been wearing his braces to prevent relapsing. We have one year behind us and three more of night-time brace wear to go! Thank you for supporting MiracleFeet and Brody. Brody is the happiest baby and has never been phased by the casts or braces. We are so lucky to have him!
