Why I'm Running:
Running the Boston Marathon has been a dream of mine for many years. I grew up cheering on the runners every year and, as I turned into a runner myself, this race topped my bucket list. But what makes me even more proud is to run this marathon in honor of my best friend Lita, who nearly died last year after being pinned to a building by a car while walking on the sidewalk. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so scared waiting for updates on her condition -- nor so powerless to help.
Luckily, Lita is a trooper and pulled through after a week in the ICU, 20+ pints of blood, 13+ surgeries and more than two total months in the hospital. She’s spent the last year re-learning how to walk and slowly getting back to normal life (including getting engaged!). One of the organizations that helped her along the way was The Brittany Fund. I am so proud to join The Brittany Fund’s charity team, committing to raise $8,500 for this amazing organization that helped Lita so much. If you have $5, $10, $20, or $100 - please consider giving back with me to this organization! No number is too small (or too big) for this great cause! This one’s for Lita!
