Chrysalis Oral Health Care Alliance is a 501c3 non-profit dental organization that was formed in 2017 by two Nashville hygienists. Their passion and determination to deliver oral health care to the underserved population of Middle Tennessee is as deep as their roots in dentistry. With a combined 40 years of oral health experience, the two met while working at the same private practice in Nashville. Their work was rewarding and their patients were well cared for. However, they often wondered about those they were unable to care for-those without a “dental home” or who lacked access to care. Who was educating them? Who was providing treatment to them? How could they, as two hygienists, service such a large underserved population? Jeanie and Tricia also knew that the lack of oral health care could lead to life threatening conditions. Their thoughts and concerns for vulnerable populations continued to grow. They decided it was time to take action. In 2017, Jeanie and Tricia launched Chrysalis Oral Health Care Alliance (COHCA), giving them a vehicle to deliver their compassionate and patient-centered service beyond the doors of private practice. They designed COHCA to succeed through experience, creativity, and vision. Above all else, these two are fully invested in it with giving hearts that will not stop fighting for the underserved to have access to oral care.
Chrysalis’s mission is to provide compassionate dental care for individuals in the greater Nashville area who lack the means to access care. Through its programs, Chrysalis fills a crucial need for vulnerable individuals by providing access to both the preventive and restorative dental care that’s required for individuals to obtain prime dental health. Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization that provides dental health care services and education to vulnerable populations in middle Tennessee. Chrysalis will provide these services by partnering with other local non-profits and corporations who have clients seeking dental care that fall into the un-insured, under-insured and vulnerable populations. Through preventive dental services and oral health education, Chrysalis will strive to reach 800 patient visits the first year (with the goal being to add an additional 1000 patient visits the second year with subsequent years adding visits based on location allowance and staff availability) providing approximately $2 million worth of preventive, oral health educational and restorative dental services to the underserved population within the greater Nashville region over the first five years.
In Chrysalis’s pilot program in 2018, it partnered with Faith Family Medical Center and provided $80K in valued treatment in just 17 clinic days to 128 patients. So far in 2019, Chrysalis has provided 94K in valued treatment to 97 patients in 21 clinic days. By providing convenient access to affordable dental care, Chrysalis seeks to measurably improve the dental health of vulnerable individuals and help them form lifelong habits that promote great dental health for a lifetime.
We welcome partnerships and support as we strive to BRING BACK SMILES in Middle Tennessee.
