Boston Latin Academy's Debate Program is in danger of disappearing. The Boston Public Schools is no longer able to subsidize our middle and high school debate teams. Check out this article one of our captains wrote about our team: https://schoolyardnews.com/debate-team-changes-lives-cabc4bc898c6 Or, read below for more about us: We are a large program serving more than 60 students in grades 7-12. We have three coaches who help students prepare to compete in policy debate tournaments both within the Boston Debate League and out at regional and national tournaments. Our team welcomes any and all students who want to try debate, and we help them to grow in academic skills of reading, research, argumentation as well as knowledge of civics, philosophy, and political science, and then the team also helps students to grow in their confidence and resilience. Also, our team is a family of supportive peers and coaches working together for success. And we are successful--this year our team made it to the Urban Debate Nation Championships debating into the Semi-Finals Round! But without help all of that will disappear. We currently have no funding for our team for next school year.
