In November 2011 my sister, Melissa, was diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer at the age of 27. In March 2015, we learned the cancer had reoccurred in her liver, putting her at Stage IV. She fought this cancer courageously for over 6 years and on Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 she took her last breath here on earth and her first breath in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
While fighting this disease, Melissa started a blog called Commit to Conquer. She was committed to conquering cancer not only by seeking out every last treatment option, but also by living life to the fullest each day, helping others, and not living in fear. Now I am committed to conquering NYC Marathon in Melissa’s honor and memory by running on with Team Bright Pink and set a goal to raise at least $10,000 for their mission.
Bright Pink’s mission is to prevent breast and ovarian cancer by educating young women, helping them understand their risk and encouraging them to be proactive about their health.
Join me in supporting Bright Pink’s mission in memory of Melissa.
