Bright Futures Atlanta (BFA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2002 located in the Grove Park neighborhood of NW Atlanta. We exist to teach, train, and transform the youth on the Westside of Atlanta.
BFA was established to improve the lives of middle and high school students in the area. Our motto is to provide Real. Life Direction. A strong Christian faith is the center of the organization and vital in establishing the student’s moral foundation, creating positive self-worth, and fostering an appreciation for helping others. BFA’s long term goal is for youth to appreciate and embrace being productive members of society and to pass those values on to future generations.
Our Response to COVID 19: The momentum at Bright Futures Atlanta (BFA) has not stopped. We have transitioned all our students to a virtual learning platform using Google Classrooms, and our teachers are busier than ever. BFA staff members prepare over 100 daily hot meals daily during the week for our students and their families that we deliver. We are also in constant communication with our parents to ensure we have a 100% attendance and participation from our students. We will also be polling our families to find out what their most significant needs are during this time and how we can best assist. Even our afterschool program has gone virtual. Monday through Thursday, we have volunteers engaging with our students on the Google Classroom platform. Our programs for music, dance, youth empowerment, arts have gone digital. Fridays, we will host a watch party, which will be uplifting movies and entertainment. We are using this opportunity to work with our students on passion projects to encourage their interests outside of academics. Our current afterschool partners are involved and have adapted their curriculum to a virtual format. This new platform will be a fun and creative way for us to engage our students and volunteers.
Your support is needed now more than ever to ensure we can continue these activities and increase our response to our students and families as new needs arise.
