Help us build the "Bridge of Dreams" at Carter Falls
Elkin Valley Trails Association is heading the effort to build the Bridge of Dreams on land that the State of North Carolina purchased two years ago. The all-volunteer organization has been busy constructing over 20 miles of trails in the area leading to the falls, the "Bridge of Dreams" and onto Stone Mountain State Park.
A 240-foot suspension bridge known as the "Bridge of Dreams" will be constructed across the 60 foot high Carter Falls in Wilkes County, NC. It will be a long-awaited connector of sections of the Mountains to Sea Trail that extends from the mountains of North Carolina to the coast.
The name, Bridge of Dreams, was born from a fundraising effort. People from everywhere are sending in their "Dream Ribbons", 16 inch long colorful ribbons, with donations for the bridge. On the "Dream Ribbons," the donors may write their own personal dream. Once the bridge is completed later this year, the Dream Ribbons will be tied to the bridge creating a colorful addition to the magnificent Carter Falls. It will be a bridge, full of people's dreams.
Donations and "Dream Ribbons" may also be sent to Elkin Valley Trails Association, PO Box 91, Elkin, NC 28621.
