The Broad Street Run holds such a special place in my heart. On the South Street subway platform race day morning in 2017, I started talking to a stranger. We hit it off and chatted for the next hour as approximately fifteen trains, packed to capacity with runners, went straight through the station without stopping.
We eventually made it up to the start line, and continued chatting until it was time for our corrals to start. I didn't have a phone on me, but gave her my number and hoped we could link up later to trade race war stories. Little did I know this person would quickly become one of my best friends.
I got nostalgic when I saw I could fundraise for the Fairmount Park Conservancy and get a spot in the BSR this year. I don't know the first thing about fundraising, and hope I haven't made a huge mistake making this commitment. Please consider donating, especially if you enjoy the following things:
-making new friends on the subway
-children that are quiet in movie theaters
-giving strangers donations to calm their fears about their donation commitment
