Two things that are extremely important to me.
Trauma - Getting Help 💔
I graduated from Concordia in 2010 with a degree in Elementary Education.
I tried teaching.
But my trauma was never dealt with.
So I did that and it took a LONG TIME.
Concordia is starting a program with a Comfort Dog (Fall of 2021) based on Trauma Informed Care. The goal is to equip future educators to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to those they’ll serve. You can read more about it in the link.
I was later diagnosed with complex trauma which means repeated trauma over a period of time. This is why I think this can be such a valuable program for people to be trained in. Sixteen year old Brenda wanted someone in her life with trauma informed care training.
I took an online course during Covid on Trauma Informed Care and continue to read about it.
Zoey Comfort Dog is a big part of my life but she’s also become a part of our work/school family. I would love to work with Zoey’s little “brother” or “sister” and the students next Fall in my Classroom.
I couldn’t be more excited about a program!
