The Pattenburg House was established in 1872 as an Inn and Tavern for tourists visiting Bellewood Amusement Park and remains one of the oldest Taverns in Hunterdon County. At its start, it represented a place for families to spend time seeking the fun offered at the amusement park. Today, it stands as a destination for those wishing to hear some of the best local music around and a "go to" place to grab a bite and spend some time with friends. Looking back at the last 17 years, one goal that the Pattenburg House has maintained is a desire to give back to its community. Although acts of kindness were always part of the Pattenburg's mission, an act of evil perpetrated on September 11, 2001, encouraged a sharper focus. This began a tradition of charitable events. Initially, fund raising events were directly related to helping first responders and their families. Subsequent events were focused on helping to raise money for area organizations that support research and development for specific diseases, often in support of a member of the community struggling with one of the diseases.
Let's fast forward to our next fundraiser. Everyone has known someone who has suffered with cancer, lost a family member or friend to the ravages of this disease that knows no economic, racial, or ethnic boundaries. On October 7, 2018, The Pattenburg House will host a fundraiser; an opportunity to raise cancer awareness as well as to raise funds- all of which will be contributed to the American Cancer Society.
Tracy Sousa & Carol Struble, two well known and beloved local singers, met in the Hunterdon Medical Center Chemo Ward, both battling breast cancer. They have been united by this terrible experience and have pledged their contribution to this event honoring the experience they went through and hoping to aid anyone who must suffer in the same way. The mission of this event, both ladies, and the Pattenburg is to free the world and future generations from the ravages of cancer.
We should not allow cancer to quell our spirit or silence our courage. Donations from you and all of our local community can support and help The American Cancer Society in their mission to prevent and treat cancer. Please join us at the Pattenburg House on October 7 2018 to help fund their mission. A suggested donation of $10 is requested at the door. All donations can be written off. The best local musicians will be providing entertainment, joined by Jim Weider from The Band. Larry Holmes will be present to help take a swing at conquering this disease.
If you can’t be with us that day your donation through this website will help us reach our goal. All contributions are appreciated. Thank you and God bless, The Pattenburg House.
