A CALL TO ACTION FOR ALL (MINNESOTA) RUNNERS:
The other day, Justin Grunewald posted this to Instagram:
“Running is so beautiful, for whatever reason you do it. For me, I do it because I need it. At this point I can’t really function without it. It’s a struggle I can control. It melts away the anxiety of life, it brightens the dark depression.”
This sentiment struck a chord with me. Why don’t we all struggle, TOGETHER. With that I am excited to announce a new fundraising and running opportunity: the Brave Like Gabe Team Tundra Workout!
This Boxing Day, December 26th, at 1 pm, a group of very fast runners (Mason Ferlic, Aisha Praught Leer, Reed Fisher, Christine Thorn) with strong ties to the Minnesota running community will gather at the Nicollet Island Inn to run mile reps around Nicollet Island. We’ll start with a 2-3 mile warm up along the river and then there will be pace makers for sub-5, sub-6, sub-7 & sub-8 minute miles. 2-3 minutes rest between each mile. Doesn’t that sound fun?
Our suggested donation is $5-10 per mile run with all donations being matched dollar for dollar to the Brave Like Gabe Foundation. My intention is to run until my legs and lungs will no longer propel me. I hope you’ll choose to do the same, or come on down and spectate. It’s sure to be a grand time. Afterwards we’ll warm up with a coffee and potentially wind down with a beer.
So come on out. Everyone is invited. And if you can't make it in person, do the workout on your own and donate here!
