Since its founding over 20 years ago, the BrainTumor Foundation (BTF) has become a critical lifeline for those who suffer from brain tumors. We address the complex and pressing needs of patients and their families coping with the challenges of a brain tumor by providing support and guidance.
Our Road to Early Detection initiative provides free MRI brain scans to the public throughout the country, especially in underserved communities. Scans from this initiative are now part of a sanctioned research project being done with Columbia University Medical Center, NY Presbyterian Hospital and the Mailman School for Public Health. The research component of this initiative is crucial to providing the demographics of brain tumors which may help determine the cause of these tumors — whether it be environmental, genetics or some other still unexamined source. By providing the means to find and subsequently treat brain tumors early on, thousands of lives may be saved.
