Hello everyone! As you may know, the Blood Pressure Project is a U.C. Berkeley student-run nonprofit that operates to provide free blood pressure screenings, education about heart health, and connection to primary care to the underserved populations of Berkeley and San Francisco.
However in light of the current COVID-19 crisis, we recognize that there are far more pressing concerns and more vulnerable populations that could use our services. Thus, in response to the ongoing situation we will be implementing our newest project, known as Coronary Combat, in order to expand our activities and actively partake in the Californian COVID-19 Response.
The second subproject in our lineup of efforts for Coronary Combat is to fundraise at least $1,000 for the Doctors Without Borders' Covid-19 Response Campaign: Saving Lives Amid Coronavirus. *Edit: We have decided to increase our fundraiser minimum as our gracious donors have helped us to raise $640 in just under two days!
The Blood Pressure Project recognizes that we are in a difficult, unprecedented time. While some of us may have the privilege of staying in the comfort of our home, there are many others at the forefront of this ongoing battle with the COVID-19 pandemic. For those of us who are at home, although we may be spatially restricted, we can still do something to help fight the spread of the virus. Thus, we are asking you to please consider donating to our GoFundMe as we fundraise to aid in DWB's efforts to combat Coronavirus around the world.
Your kind donations will be utilized by DWB to:
- Buy and ship essential supplies such as masks, gloves, and protective wear to Italian healthcare providers operating within one of the most pandemic-stricken regions in the world.
- Detect and manage COVID-19 cases among vulnerable populations such as migrants, unaccompanied minors, and the homeless, in countries like France and Belgium.
- Help finance DWB efforts to work with local authorities so that COVID-19 case management can increase in developing countries like Afghanistan and Syria.
- Ensure that patients in over 70 countries get the care they need by strengthening vital infection control measures across global DWB projects.
We are directing you to our GoFundMe account, which will be active from April 14th to May 9th, so that the Blood Pressure Project can track our contribution to DWB. However, all the proceeds of our GoFundMe account will be directly donated to DWB's COVID-19 Response Campaign. Any amount that is donated is greatly appreciated, and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our future!
Our officer team gives a big thank you to all of our generous donors!
