I am so excited to share that I have been selected to run the 2020 Boston Marathon as a member of Team Framingham (AGAIN)!!
As many of you may remember, I did proclaim that I would “never run another Boston Marathon again” after experiencing quite possibly THE WORST weather conditions in Boston Marathon history in 2018. I, however, took two years off, did some yoga and decreased my mileage by quite a bit ... and am happy to say I am READY to be back, determined to have an all around better experience this time around. I will be representing my school, Potter Road, once again on Marathon Monday! And though I did “finish” in 2018, I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity to try my best all over again!
Please join me as I raise money for The Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest, a program that has helped benefit a number of my students over the years. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest is to provide social, educational, physical, and cultural programming for the boys and girls of the MetroWest area. The intent of the program is to enhance the development of children and to prepare young adults to be responsible and productive members of the community.
The Club offers kids what they need and want most – adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where members can have fun and be themselves, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits. A youth development strategy that fosters a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence underlies all Boys & Girls Clubs programs and builds self-confidence.
More than half of the kids attending the Club receive some level of financial assistance. Although they only charge $25 per child, the annual cost per child is closer to $1,000, meaning that less than 10% of the organization’s costs are covered by member fees. The generosity of donors like YOU can ensure that every child has access to quality programs that provide the opportunity for them to reach their full potential.
YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE!
