Since 1893, Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis (BGCI) believes every young person deserves to live a life filled with hope and opportunity. Because we care about our young people, we provide a safe, educational and positive atmosphere where they can prosper and reach their full potential.
BGCI provides after-school and summer programming throughout underrepresented Indianapolis neighborhoods. BGCI is committed to serving a diverse, urban population and is one of the only youth service organizations in Indianapolis that is still embedded within the inner city, able to help those in need within their neighborhoods directly. BGCI recruits Club members through local neighborhoods, schools, churches, the juvenile court system, and community organizations. BGCI continues to partner with families to ensure that thousands of area youth from age 5 to 18 are guided and supported to reach their fullest potential in life. Over 6,000 youth are served in 10 Clubs located throughout the city. The five facility-based and five school-based Clubs help some of the most at-risk communities in Marion County.
Graduation and College & Career Readiness Program
The Graduation and College & Career Readiness program provides resources that support and help Club members achieve high school graduation and opportunities like college visits and job shadowing to encourage members to set goals for college and career, and seek out guidance and apply for funding to help them achieve their goals.
The end goal of the graduation and college & career readiness program is for every Club member to discover that there are a plethora of opportunities available. With the support of tutors, mentors, graduation counselors, and the guidance of the college readiness coordinator, teens truly have opportunities limited only by their drive to work hard to achieve their goals. BGCI serves pre-teens and teens in at-risk communities of Indianapolis. The goal is to not only help teens graduate, but to offer them possibilities for futures they have not considered. Program outcomes: increase graduation/college readiness participation across all five facility-based Clubs, increase the number of Club members who apply for college and scholarships and receive scholarships and increase the percentage of teens reporting that Club participation helps them perform better at school.
