Boston Roller Derby (BRD) needs your help! The COVID-19 pandemic has hit volunteer organizations harder than anticipated and we are leaning on our dedicated fans and community to help us through. We are immensely grateful for the support we've seen so far and hope to keep things going!
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is volunteer skater-run and owned, we rely on our public events and merchandise sales to bring in the majority of our annual revenue. Our monthly bouts have been our main source of revenue beyond monthly dues paid by our skaters.
Due to the pandemic, we've had to cancel the majority of our 2020 season, including games, tournaments, practices, and in-person events. More recently, we came to the difficult decision of leaving our beloved practice space, The Fort. This step was incredibly difficult for us to take, but financially necessary. Three leagues, countless teams, and hundreds of people have called The Fort "home" over the years. Losing our warehouse space is another reminder of how impactful this situation has become, both to our league and our broader community.
We’re asking for your help to keep us going while we anxiously wait to put our skates back on the track. We want to continue to be a positive force for the Boston area and beyond. Your support helps us do that. We hope you’ll come check us out when we do get to host public events again!
