The inscription on the facade of the Boston Public Library reads, THE COMMONWEALTH REQUIRES THE EDUCATION OF THE PEOPLE AS THE SAFEGUARD OF ORDER AND LIBERTY. My Boston Marathon run this year will be to support order and liberty in our world by raising money for BPL's afterschool programs.
BPL is a family affair for Evan and me. Many a weekend day, Evan and I head to the library to read in its glorious setting. Marca enjoys a stop at the cafe, where she can hang outside and watch the crowds go by. And this is even more special, since the finish line is at the library!!!
Thanks to you all for supporting me in my crazy running endeavors. I appreciate your supporting me and the causes important to me.
Trustees of the Public Library of the City of Boston wrote: Boston Public Library was the first large free municipal library in the US, the first public library to lend books, the first to have a branch library, and the first to have a children’s room. All of its programs and exhibitions are free and open to the public. At the Boston Public Library, books are just the beginning. To learn more, visit bpl.org.
