I am very excited to announce that I will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon with team BMC in April to support the hospital’s newest endeavor, Vision 2030. I am honored to represent this vision for 26.2 and beyond!
BMC is New England’s largest safety net hospital and a national leader in caring for the urban and working poor. Existing principally to care for every person who walks through its doors, BMC does so with innovative treatments and an unwavering commitment from providers.
BMC’s newest endeavor, Vision 2030, encompasses the belief that when an organization invests in the root causes of urban health issues, the community and its people greatly benefit and thrive. The funds raised through this year's marathon team will go toward making Vision 2030 a reality, driving key investments in areas including chronic disease management, substance use disorders, mental health disorders, housing insecurity, among other social determinants of health.
I am particularly inspired by Vision 2030’s focus on finding a new model of care for complex chronic disease management to improve health outcomes and reduce avoidable health care utilization by addressing the root causes of these diseases. As I followed along with my sister’s experience with the healthcare system the past few years, it became clear that something needs to change to improve the coordination of care, especially for chronic disease.
It is my hope to help make Vision 2030 a reality! Any size contribution to this cause would be greatly valued and appreciated. Thank you in advance for considering supporting me and BMC in its mission to provide exceptional care, without exception!
