In late 2018 while I was training to run the Boston Marathon my mom came to me and told me that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. These are words no son ever wants to hear. Looking back on that day actually brings a smile to my face. When she told me, I must have looked like I was going to cry or something because she scolded me "get that look off your face"! She then went on to say that it was discovered early and would be treatable with surgery. She had successful surgery and then had to go through radiation treatment 5 days a week for several weeks. She had her treatment done at Boston Medical Center. At that moment, I knew I was going to run with the BMC Marathon team as a way to pay them back for my moms treatment. I did not know anything about BMC at the time my mom was diagnosed but have since learned that they are an amazing teaching facility with a very noble mission that I can get behind 100%.
I have joined Team BMC this year to raise funds as a charity runner in the 124th Boston Marathon. I have set a lofty goal of $15,000.00 I have so much faith in all of my friends and family to be with me both emotionally and financially. I know I can count on you. Once again I will give it my all knowing that you will be there to lift me up. Please come together with me to support such a great hospital that I can never truly repay!
