Running has been a constant part of my life for over 20 years. Competing in track and cross country whille in junior high, high school and college taught me lessons about leadership, commitment and friendship. I was fortunate to have had many incredible coaches, but three coaches had a lasting impact on me as a runner and now educator. Steve Heffernan, Matt Norton and Jordan Rose are all coaches and educators that I admired as a student and appreciate even more now as a fellow educator.
I currently work for Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea, Lawrence and Springfield Massachusetts. We are a network of alternative high schools that serve students from many different backgrounds. Our work is life changing because of the incredible educators that work tirelessly for incredible students.
This year I am running the Boston Marathon to raise funds for Phoenix Charter Academy. The hard work and commitment from our teachers and students will be motivation for me throughout the 26.2 miles. During the run I would like to honor my former teachers and coaches Steven Heffernan, Matt Norton and Jordan Rose by having their names on my jersey.
Please consider making a donation to Phoenix Charter Academy and support me while I run the Boston Marathon. If you donate $50 or more you can have the name of an inspirational teacher or coach placed on the jersey I will wear on race day! Please include the name of the inspirational teacher or coach with your donation, and why they had such a lasting impact on you.
