Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As many of you know, I LOVE TO RUN! So much so that I have been honored to have run the New York City marathon twice and although at the end, I had a small voice in my head saying ‘never again’, somehow I found myself running another one!
This year I am beyond excited that I have the opportunity to run the 122nd Boston Marathon with the Boston Fire Department team in support of the Boston Fire Department Children's Fund, a local charity set up for children who have dealt with loss from a fire.
As a proud Bostonian, running the Boston Marathon has always been at the top of my bucket list. To me, running is so much more than exercise... running is liberating, it's freeing, it’s hard, and it pushes you to overcome things you never thought were possible. The energy you get from a crowd is indescribable, and with a crowd full of Boston accents, I can only imagine that the cheers will be wicked awesome!
This marathon is personal to me for so many reasons. Not only has it been a dream of mine to hear the roar of the crowd as I take the turn onto Boylston, but also because I have seen first-hand the damage and destruction a fire can do to a home. Supporting this charity through the marathon will provide much needed support to children who unfortunately experience the tragedy of a fire.
In 2006 Flt. Robert Kilduff formed the Children’s Fund to assist Boston area children that felt the pain of losing all of their belongings due to fires during the holiday season. The mission was simple: Purchase and deliver Christmas presents to Boston children that homes were destroyed from a fire between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day each year. Within days the fund provided checks to the families to help replace articles that were destroyed. As the fund has continued to grow in support, so has the mission. The fund now also supports neighborhood little leagues, church groups, and playgrounds throughout the City of Boston all year long.
I plan to raise at least $3,000 and hope you can help in supporting my goal.
Thank you all so much! I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you along the 26.2 mile route!
