Between September 26 and October 12, the Marr Fund Team will participate in the Virtual 2020 Maine Marathon. Family and friends can run or walk any distance, anywhere in the world to support the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Established by the Marr family, the fund supports a visionary Alzheimer’s research initiative aimed at ultimately preventing the disease.
Today, more than five million Americans are courageously fighting Alzheimer’s disease. But the Marr family—together with world-renowned researchers at the Brigham—are focused on finding a way to stop Alzheimer’s disease altogether. Backed by more than 30 years of research, Brigham leaders, Drs. Dennis Selkoe and Reisa Sperling are leading and pioneering innovative approaches to advance the prevention and treatment of this devastating disease.
In six years, the Marr Fund has already made a tangible impact on furthering Alzheimer’s prevention research, most notably raising over $1MM through the Maine Marathon event itself. In addition, support from the Marr Fund has been a catalyst in allowing the research team to secure a significant $20M National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to begin a prevention trial in younger individuals.
Thank you for joining us in this fight to prevent Alzheimer’s. Together we can make a difference—now and for future generations.
