SCM is helping to raise money for a young Syrian girl who is in desparate need of a bone marrow transplant.
We have one of our Friends of SCM in Saudi Arabia right now who has made contact with the family and verified the story and financial need. In short, they are "trying to arrange a bone marrow donor match test for little 6 year-old Alya. She fled the war in Syria with her mother and joined her father who was working here in Saudi, but is no longer employed.
Our own St. Rita of SCM Medical Missions put us in touch with Alya’s Mommy and I’ve been speaking with her personally. Any help to pay for this very expensive test to determine a donor and to help with living and medical expenses is most appreciated. Poor little baby has been having blood transfusions every 2 weeks since she was 2 months old.
Let me know if you can help and please spread the word. — at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib - Arryan Hospital."
They currently estimate the financial need to be about 30,000 Saudi Rials, which translates to about $8500 US Dollars. We would like to raise a bit extra for any contingency. The breakdown is as follows:
15,000 for 2 tests (it potentially will only be one)
6,000 for 4 blood transfusions (until she can have the bone marrow transplant)
3,000 for travel to Riyadh and living expenses for the next month
3,000 her father's expenses
3,000 for Alya, her mother and donor to travel to Jordan for the bone marrow transplant surgery
Please help us help this little girl who has been through so much her young life!
As always, your donations will go strait to their intended use, and anything donated to this campaign in excess of the need will go to our other refugee programs. Thank you!
