The Boltons have been supporters of Calvary Women's Services for 15 years--ever since Liz wanted to repay some of her karmic debt and invited Katie to join her in volunteering with a local women's organization. The bright-eyed feminist scholars arrived looking for a way to support women in their adopted home of Washington DC. They found a place that offered its residents a safe place to transform their lives and regain their independence.
Since 2005, Katie has been an overnight volunteer, donor, event volunteer, and was even part-time Calvary staff for several years. Liz has been an overnight, meal, event, and Step Up DC volunteer, as well as a donor and champion of their work. We believe strongly in the work Calvary does and its benefits for women experiencing homelessness.
2020 being the year that it is, Calvary needs your help to continue its life-saving work for as long as is needed. Since this crisis started, Calvary has been spending an additional $1,000 a day to keep women safe.
Please join the Boltons for In This Together, Calvary’s first ever virtual 5k walk, run or bike! Inspiration for this event came from the women living at Calvary. Throughout the pandemic, residents and staff have been taking daily walks together to get fresh air, exercise and to re-center themselves. One of the women said, “I look forward to the walks every day. They give me peace and allow me to leave my worries behind for an hour. The walks are a blessing during this time.”
We all have a long road ahead, but if we stay In This Together, we know that we can help the women at Calvary continue to rebuild their lives, meet their goals and end their homelessness for good.
