To my family and friends, I hope this finds you happy and healthy in this crazy time we are living in.
2020 has obviously been a difficult year. All the craziness of COVID and self isolation it brought on has left me in no shape to paddle in the Cape Cod Bay Challenge this year. But the new format (virtual) and self paced shorter distance is something I can do. My head is up to its old tricks, the dizziness and vertigo make many things difficult but at least falling in the water still doesn’t hurt.
The purpose of the event is once again to raise money for a wonderful non-profit organization, Christopher’s Haven. CH provides housing and support to children (and their families) who come to Boston for specialized pediatric cancer treatment. Treatment lasts 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer, and the burden of finding housing for that period of time in Boston can be financially and emotionally overwhelming for a family already undergoing the strain of a child fighting cancer. Christopher's Haven is located right next to MGH. Seven large and completely furnished apartments and a community space are available to families who travel from out of state or outside the country for treatment.
This is the 12th year that the CCBC has supported CH. Through the generosity of our friends and families we’ve helped hundreds of families through one of the toughest times of their lives. This is a truly one of a kind event that has come to mean so much to so many.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
All the Best,
