My cousin Zack lit up any room that he walked in to with his smile, sense of humor, and light-hearted spirit. He touched the lives and hearts of more people than I will ever know, and I am honored to be a part of the team, The Devil Doc’s, honoring his legacy during this summer’s Run to Home Base.
As a Navy Corpsman, Zack served with a Marine infantry unit as a medic, affectionately known among all Marines as a "Devil Doc". Zack was beloved by his Marines since his only concern was their well-being. In addition, he was cited for his heroism under fire. Zack treated at The Home Base Program due to the severe effects of combat PTSD. While he did not survive, we hope to help and support other veterans with this horrible condition, and I am honored to be raising money to support such an important program.
Home Base is dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for service members, veterans and their families through clinical care, fitness and wellness-based programs, community outreach, education and research, and I cannot think of a better way to honor the legacy of such a special individual.
Zack will forever be in our hearts as his courageous spirit, contagious smile, and selflessness will live through all of the lives he touched. We love you, Zack ❤️ xoxo
