This year, I am trying to use the power of scale, to really drive our fundraising efforts. I have asked all of our employees and team members to create social media pages to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. I want to exceed our corporate goal of $140k this year by a significant amount, and I’m confident it can be done.
MileOne Autogroup has been teamed up with the American Cancer Society as our official corporate fundraising partner since 2000. Since then, we have given away countless cars in charity raffles, we have been the main sponsor of the Making Strides walk in Baltimore for over a decade and have been involved in numerous other fundraising activities each year which have all raised over $3.4 million to help find a cure for cancer. Recently, we have modified our fundraising efforts so that the money raised stays in our local communities, funding the transportation and housing needs of cancer patients, as well as local research. Our supplemental transportation program to ACS’s Road to Recovery service is titled Travel to Treatment with MileOne. This program has already provided over 4,400 free rides to treatment for cancer patients throughout Maryland and Virginia, lifting a huge financial burden from those battling cancer.
I know each and every one of us has been affected in some way by this terrible disease. Whether it's friends or family, direct or indirect, cancer knows no age, race or gender.
