My husband Ara and I are honored to run & participate in the Blindfold Challenge 5K run on Saturday April 13th in Boston! We are very excited to participate for such a great cause/organization - Massachusetts Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired. :)
For over 100 years, MABVI provides vision rehabilitation services & resources to improve the quality of life for those who have low vision. Some of these resources include assistive technology support, having volunteersto provide help with various daily needs (such as reading mail, grocery shopping, transportation, etc), orientation & mobility classes, medical transportation, and much more.
As an optometrist, I am working closely with MABVI to bring awareness about low vision and the importance of getting a comprehensive eye examination annually. About 85% of what you do in your daily life requires vision and by 2050, the number of people who will have some form of vision impairment or blindness is expected to double according to the National Institute of Health (NIH).
We hope you can support us for this great organization and for what they do for the community. We are committed to raise $1000. Any donation for our fundraising, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
