Boss, the blind lab, needs your help! This eight-year old yellow lab is a sweet, well-mannered boy who has known too much heartbreak. At four he went blind from retinal degeneration--unavoidable and irreversible. He had to learn to live in a world of darkness. Then, over the next few years, he developed a thyroid deficiency that went untreated, which makes him feel tired and rundown. He also developed an enlarged prostate, made worse by having never been neutered. This summer, his family decided they couldn't care for him any longer.
Poor Boss was left sick and homeless, forced to move to a strange new place. For the first couple days, Boss cried actual tears, trying to convey his distress and fear. Boss's story is so sad it makes us want to cry tears, too.
You can help Boss's story have a happy ending by donating to his treatment and care. Since coming to Dolly's, Boss has started to slowly recover and show what a great companion he will be for the right person. He is currently in a foster home, receiving treatment and learning to trust again. In spite of everything, Boss does his very best to be a good boy. He has not had one accident inside. He responds to "sit" commands. He has great leash manners. Boss is good at remembering the placement of furniture and walls in the house and enjoys going on walks.
Because of his various conditions and how long some went untreated, the cost of his care is significant. Boss needs $1000 to just get healthy enough to be adopted. You can help Boss's recovery by giving $25, $50, or event $100 today. You can show Boss that there are people who won't let him down. "Please," says Boss, "won't you help me today?"
