Hurricane Florence made landfall in September 2018 as the first Category 4 hurricane to hit the United States since Hurricane Charley in 2004. Ahead of its landfall, many communities were ordered to evacuate, as fears arose that the hurricane could leave some coastal areas uninhabitable. The storm brought with it heavy rainfall, damaging winds, and a powerful storm surge. It has significantly impacted communities along the coastline. It has been eight days since the storm made landfall, and with the remnants of Florence now out to sea, residents in the Carolinas and Virginia are still recovering from torrential rains that left dozens dead along with widespread destruction and injury. Please join myself and my friend Simoni Mishra from Montgomery Blair High School supporting state of North Carolina and the surrounding area in Hurricane Florence recovery efforts! A lot of work to do and any amount helps those in the area get back on their feet quickly.
