About 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. In women under 45, breast cancer is more common in African- American women than white women. Overall, African- American women are more likely to die from breast cancer. Needless to say, breast cancer is a problem in our community.
To help improve this situation, we have decided not only to participate in a Breast Cancer Run ( Diva Marathon) but to donate money to The Breast Cancer Charities of America (iGoPINK). The Breast Cancer Charities exist for one reason, to eliminate breast cancer as a life threatening disease. iGoPINK’s central focus is to educate, empower, and encourage all women to become pro active in preventing breast cancer and if diagnosed, in surviving breast cancer. Help us with our efforts to make women feel safe, beautiful during their diagnosis.
We vow to not only donate money but also donate our time and run 13.1 miles to help breast cancer survivors and also the women who are currently going through the diagnosis process. Us, as black women need to make a stand and represent for the unheard. Please help us today and donate for a good cause.
