The lack of black men in medicine is staggering. The current rate of black men applying to medical school is also steadily decreasing. Reports also suggest that only 4 to 5.7% of physicians are black. Chairman and Founder of DiverseMedicine Inc., Dale Okorodudu, M.D., is passionate about increasing these numbers.
On February 16, 2019, DiverseMedicine Inc. is hosting the first annual Black Men in White Coats: DFW Teen Summit. The summit will be held on the campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center. The goal is to:
- Host 1,000 individuals (majority black male high school and college students) at the summit and
- Raise $50,000 to host the summit for all of the students
The summit will expose students to careers in medicine and connect them mentors in the medical field.
Your donation towards Black Men In White Coats is crucial to help change the narrative of the lack of the lack of black men in medicine and will help DiverseMedicine Inc. achieve its mission.
