The Bayou Classic BizTech Challenge was created by NexusLA to develop, promote and connect a diverse and talented technology workforce and supplement HBCUs’ internal capacity for entrepreneurial education. The program challenges HBCU students to work in multi-disciplinary teams to originate a technology-based business concept, a relevant business model for that concept, and a pitch presentation. Teams are provided with mentorship from industry professionals, entrepreneurial education, and a chance to pitch their ideas in the finals at the Bayou Classic in front of a live panel of judges, with a grand prize of $10,000 awarded to the winning team during an on-field appearance before the football game on November 24th. In addition to learning, gaining connections and building their resumes, students will plug into an entrepreneurial ecosystem offering free business coaching and legal assistance to those who want to continue bringing their “crazy ideas” to life after completion of the program.
Donations will fund travel and housing for students travelling to the finals, the costs of the pitch event, and the category and grand prizes for the winning teams. Please help us continue to offer this valuable program to HBCU students and expand the program beyond the current 7 participating schools. We appreciate your support!
