In September 2018, the world lost a beautiful young lady, an inspiration, and the founder of Claire's Place Foundation- Claire Wineland. Although Claire's 21 years were far too short, she truly lived life to the fullest, and her positive disposition and inspirational outlook on life has inspired and touched so many people all over the world- including myself.

This November I turn 25 years old, a milestone which I never thought I would reach and which I value so much more now knowing Claire will never have the chance to reach this age herself. In honour of the beautiful soul, whose words still bring me comfort and whose smile still lights up my day even in a photograph, and in the hope of keeping Claire's spirit and her message alive, I am going to take a very cold dip in the sea on November 5th 2018 to raise money for the foundation Claire started, which helps families who are still living through CF. On behalf of myself and the foundation, we would be extremely grateful for any donation that you can make..
More about Claire Wineland:
Claire Wineland lived with cystic fibrosis her entire life. At the age of 13 she founded Claire’s Place Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). Claire’s foundation was a way for her to give back with hope, strength, joy and make meaning of what she had to go through. Today, her family and the foundation’s board members continue to carry on her legacy providing emotional and financial support to families living with cystic fibrosis.
Claire loved sharing her unique outlook on life and her inspirational model led her to be a TEDx Speaker and speak at leading events across the globe, including PTTOW, the BBYO International Convention (IC) 2016, CES as well as top universities and companies such as Philips and Klick Health. Claire was selected as a member of the Philips “Breathless Choir”. She was a leading face of the campaign that focused on enabling people living with chronic respiratory conditions to fulfill a lifelong dream of singing. The event brought together a group of 18 people in New York for whom breathing is a constant challenge, and documented their journey through a series of films, as they conquered their fears and defied everyone's expectations by undertaking the impossible: learning to sing.
Claire’s image and quotes secured international coverage. At the age of 21, Claire was honored as Glamour Magazine’s 2018 “College Women of the Year” grand prize winner. In her 21 years, she received numerous awards including one of Seventeen Magazine’s “17 Power Teens” of 2016, Fox Teen Choice Awards 2015, Global Genes’ RARE Champion of Hope Award, World of Children Youth Award, the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes and winner of Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Small Nonprofit of the Year,” among others. She was featured on The Dr. Oz Show, CNN, Huffington Post, ABC News, Cosmopolitan, People, Ladies’ Home Journal and more.
