Dear family and Friends,
As many of you may know, on October 6th, I will be running a half marathon in upstate NY. Over the past several years you've seen me devote my time to helping various charities, and to helping children. Being born into a family that as given me the childhood that every child deserves often feels like winning the lottery; not everyone is as lucky as we are, and many people don't have access to simple things like electricity and running water. Therefore, for my October 6 half-marathon, I will be running in support of an organization called Magic Bus, and I'd like to ask you for some help in that effort. Magic Bus’ Childhood to Livelihoods Program empowers underprivileged children and youth through attainment of education, life skills, and job training. This enables them to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their future generations. In the last 6 years, 1 million children have been part of the Magic Bus Childhood to Livelihood Program. By working with India’s poorest communities (especially in my hometown of Gujarat), they've helped children in the following areas:
- Stay in school
- Fend off destabilizers such as child marriage and child labor
- Become first-generation salary earners
- Develop a positive attitude and behavior towards health, hygiene, and gender equality
- Live an active lifestyle through sports
Magic Bus uses mentorship and a sports-based curriculum to engage children and nurture them on their journey from childhood to livelihood. The curriculum for the program is based upon their 20 years of experience in working with low-income communities in India.
Would you please help me support this cause by making a generous donation on my behalf?
In the past I did not consider myself a runner. With the motivation of supporting such a great cause, now the miles on the treadmill and out on the course seem to fly by.
