As the newest Director on the Board of the Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP), I would be deeply grateful for your support on my gimpy but game effort with Team AMP at the LA Big 5K on March 23rd. The purpose is to raise money for an important cause that is meaningful to me personally and to the Kumagai family.
AADAP is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life changing substance abuse services and other social support services to low-income and underserved individuals. Each year we serve over 20,000 individuals from some of the hardest hit communities. AADAP has over 110 dedicated staff who consistently go above and beyond to serve their clients. They provide caring services to men, women and children who are impacted by substance abuse and addiction. The staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and AADAP is also committed to making these services affordable. Last year, approximately 4000 people were treated for substance abuse, 14,000 were reached through prevention and education, and 2000 received employment services.
Why sponsor Team AMP? Because you would be giving people a second chance at life. Addiction has a devastating effect on the individual and their loved ones, and now more than ever, AADAP services are crucial to meeting the need in the community. There are an estimated 21.2million Americans in need of substance abuse treatment, but 89% will not receive the help they need. AADAP relies on donations from the public to make these programs possible and affordable. The more money we raise, the better we are able to serve our clients!
