Mallory Robinson and Blake Billings are getting married on June 29, 2019!
In sharing this exciting time with our friends and family, we are asking our guests to join us in supporting causes that are dear to us. Mallory and Blake have each selected a charity and ask that guests donate at least a portion of their gift to one of these important causes.
Blake has selected the Vision of Children Foundation ("VOC"). VOC funds cutting-eduge research focused on developing treatments and cures for hereditary blindness and educates and supports families affected by vision disorders. VOC research has identified the gene mutation responsible for ocular albinism type 1 ("OA1"), a genetic vision disorder, developed genetic tests and mouse models, determined the biochemical features of the OA1 protein, studied use of stem cells to regenerate eye tissue, and demonstrated the efficacy of gene therapy for inherited eye diseases.
Blake was diagnosed with OA1 as an infant. He selected VOC becasue of its financial and missional commitment to finding cures for OA1 and similar disorders and providing support and education to children diagnosed with hereditary blindness and their families.
