Keep #NYStrong - Feed A Family!
The Shield Institute is a wonderful oranganization that offers educational services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Bilingual Birdies has been successfully teaching in their preschool this past year and has had the honor to get to know the children and families. As a result of Covid-19, a large portion of the 500 families they serve in the Bronx and Queens do not have enough food. Some of these families are undocumented and cannot benefit from social services in NYC. We're teaming up to help raise funds to buy food for the families in need. Each dollar given supports full bellies and warm hearts. Please give to families in the most pandemic-impacted neighborhoods in NY.
No child should go hungry at a time like this. Food insecurity is sweeping our city, and food pantries are having difficulty keeping up. Families of children who attend The Shield Institute, many of whom live in the most impacted regions, are facing unemployment, unable to pay, rent, and homeschooling a child with disabilities.
To feed a family of 4 in NY, on average, costs $13.28/meal, which many of these families cannot provide once, let alone three times a day. Please consider, a gift in any amount to feed the hundreds of New Yorkers who need our help today!
