44,000 rotations of my bicycle pedals - That’s about how many I will be making this July as I bicycle 200+ miles in support brain health.
I am taking on this challenge for a number of reasons....
First and foremost, is the fact, that like you, brain illnesses, disorders and injuries have affected me personally – be it in my family, with my friends, with their families, and with the acquaintances I have met. Like you, I want to personally make a difference to help the 1 in 4 people worldwide who at some point in their life are affected by a brain illness or disorder.
Secondly, as the Communications Director for One Mind, I am stepping out of my comfort zone, having never bicycled anywhere close to this distance before as a gesture to 'unofficially' kick off our One Mind peer-to-peer fundraising program.
Be it participating in an athletic event of any distance, collecting donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday, wedding, or anniversary, donating proceeds from a garage sale, or anything else you do - your fundraising support will help us accelerate cures for brain illnesses and injuries.
My goal is to raise
$4,000 UPDATED TO $8,000* for One Mind through my participation in the 200+ mile, 10,000-person ‘Seattle-to-Portland’ bike ride that will take place on July 14-15. If you would like to make a donation to support my efforts, you can do so on this page. If you would like to create your own Crowdrise hosted fundraiser to support One Mind, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org first so that we can confirm with you all the details of your support.
Thank you for your support in these fundraising activities! Together we can actively make a difference in support of the millions of people worldwide who are affected by a brain illness or injury!
* An offline $1,000 donation from Patrick J Kennedy will be factored into this amount. Thank you Patrick!
And be sure to 'like' our One Mind Facebook page so that you can see the posts and photos I'll be making during my bike ride on July 14-15:
