Bike4Haiti - Miles for Maize
The women of Bassin Caiman approached Haiti H2O staff to propose the idea of a corn grinder business for their community. The women grind locally grown corn into flour to provide many staple foods for their families. Currently they must carry their corn 4 hours to the next closest grinding facility.
A local Corn Grinder Micro-business will improve the quality of life for the women and families of Bassin Caiman. This business will also grow the economic potential of the local area by creating jobs for local residents to operate, maintain, and manage the Corn Grinder business as well as expand the capacity for selling ground corn locally.
