The Big Thompson Canyon Association (BTCA) has been active in the canyon since the late 1930's. The current building was completed in 1948; the black and white photo is from the dedication celebration. Over the years the BTCA has supported canyon residents in a variety of ways such as restocking the river with fish, creating residential directories, providing support during disasters such as the floods of 1976 and 2013, and donating funds to a variety of local organizations including the local volunteer fire department and the and the Big Thompson Watershed Coalition.
The major fund raising event over the past 51 years has been the annual Pancake Breakfast. Funds from the breakfast, bake sale and raffle support charity donations and maintenance of the BTCA Building. Due to Covid-19 we were unable to conduct the Pancake Breakfast this year. We purchased all the materials to replace the building roof in 2019 and had planned to recruit volunteer help in 2020 to tear off the old roof and rebuild it. We also have been unable to organize that volunteer effort. We are hoping to raise the funds to pay a contractor to do the work on the roof before it causes damage to the building.
