Hello friends, I am pleased to be raising money for Big Sisters while doing something I love to do: running!
I've been working with Big Sisters since May, and strongly believe in the powerful role it's played in the lives of vulnerable girls and trans youth in the Lower Mainland. I've been writing about the benefits our programs and mentorship generally has to offer. It's hard to grow up as a girl and/or LGBT youth, particularly when you are lacking stable support from any caring adults, and I have proudly watched as my team has worked to fight the issues these vulnerable populations face, such as abuse, mental illness, eating disorders, neglect, and more.
Please join me in supporting Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland!
Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland has been igniting the potential of at-risk youth since 1960. Through our programs, we help youths acquire the confidence they need to recognize their potential. With the support and help of our over 700 volunteers, we establish caring and supportive lifelong friendship that result in Little Sisters who are three times more confident about themselves, driven to take on new challenges such as post-secondary education, and become the strong leaders of tomorrow. With research showing that 1 in 10 kids in BC Lower mainland don't believe they have a single adult they can count on, it is integral that we recognize mentorship as a necessity in a young child's life.
Donations directly support Big Sisters mentorship programs, which in turn will decrease waiting times and support our caseworkers. Thank you for your support!
