My road to running the marathon started with taking care of patients in the emergency department on Marathon Monday of 2013. While I take care of severely injured and ill patients on an almost daily basis, the meaning of that day, and the types of injuries we saw were just different, and unforgettable. While part of me wishes I had not been at work that day, I'm also greatful I could contribute my skills to such a wonderful, skillful health care team. We made a difference that day. So part of me is running to honor those that were injured or died that day, and another part of me is running to honor those that delivered such tremendous care under such emotionally stressful circumstances. I'm hoping I can make a difference now by being part of a team running to complete a challenging race and raising money for a great cause. I appreciate all the support and encouragement along the way!
