Matt and I have been involved with the Down Syndrome association since our Nephew Owen was born! We were in college and volunteered to do kid care at the Parent support groups hosted by the DSAMN that my sister and brother-in-law attended. We watched Owen take his first steps at one of these meetings with the help of a Physical Therapist who was also volunteering with us. Now we are leading our own DSAMN parent group in the north metro connecting with other families like ours.
This year the DSAMN mailed books and activites to local classrooms for world down syndrome day 3/21. Kaitlyn's class was a recipient and she was SO PROUD to share about her brother with her class.
Please help us support the The Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota to continue these helpful programs. These programs help us all to be better spreading awareness, strengthening families, and supporting our amazing kids.
Their mission is to empower individuals and their families, to create community, and to celebrate the abilities of people with Down syndrome. The annual STEP UP FOR DOWN SYNDROME walk is our largest awareness event and fundraiser. Over 5,000 people join us in person at Como Park every September to raise awareness, celebrate abilities, and create community.
