BENEFITING: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, Inc.
Dear Friends,
On April 16th of this year, we will be running the Boston Marathon as part of Steve's Team, to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.
We have been running as a mother daughter duo for many years, and it looks like our third marathon together will be one that has been on both of our bucket lists for a very long time. Since Boston is so much more than just a race, we have decided to take this opportunity to raise money for a good local cause.
Steve's Team was founded in 2003 in memory of Stephen M. O'Grady, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem Executive Director who was killed by a drunk driver in 1999 at the age of 30. To date, Steve's Team marathon runners have donated over $55,000 to the Club, an organization that is near and dear to all of our hearts here in the North Shore.
As we train through the bitter cold and unpredictable snowy weather, having a purpose like this is what keeps us going and makes it all worth while.
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem is the 2nd oldest club in America and has been fulfilling the same mission for over 140 years: to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, the Club serves over 1,200 members in Salem and Peabody, ages 8-18, with an average daily attendance of 150+ youth. The club offers a wide range of programs such as homework help, dance, athletics, nature studies, leadership activities and career and college planning. All programs are mentored by professional staff and support the goals of the Salem school district.
We cannot wait to finally experience this amazing event and we hope that you will support us and the Boys & Girls Club!

is a 100% charitable event- no donated funds will be used to defray the costs of event registration, mailings, promotion, events or team gear. 100% of every donation will go to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.
