Look at those fresh Michigan grads! This team is led by Sandra's best friends from college, and we've been cheering each other on and lifting each other up for more than 20 years! Our mission is to support Sandra and her amazing husband Brian in the fight of their lives.
Three years ago, just one week after the birth of their second daughter, Brian was diagnosed with ALS and told he would not see 40. Since that time he and Sandra have achieved a lifetime’s worth of good:
- Founded a patient-led organization, I AM ALS
- Lobbied Congress for funding
- Partnered with labs on breakthough research
They are now on the precipice of a promising cure that also has positive implications for other neurological diseases. Until now, there has been no cure for ALS and the existing treatments add weeks (not years) to life expectancy.
This fundraiser under "One to All" in partnership with the Hopewell Fund is seeking to raise a total of $1.7M across 100 teams. This will cover the cost of drug safety testing for a groundbreaking treatment that could make Brian one of the first people to survive an ALS diagnosis.
This ASO (antisense oligonucleotide) treatment, developed by two of the top scientists in this field, has already stopped ALS in its tracks for one other person in a Phase 3 FDA trial. We believe and hope it can do the same for Brian. And treatments that succeed with ALS are likely to yield breakthroughs in treating other neurodegenerative diseases such as Frontotemporal Dementia and Parkinson's.
One To All is about curing Brian - and every other patient like him.
These two lovebirds have been inspiring us with their passion to create hope and change since they met on the Obama campaign trail 12 years ago. If there is anyone to beat ALS it is Brian and Sandra!
Please join us in being part of a major scientific breakthrough.
