I'm Kurt Langer and was raised in Silver Creek, NY. This is a very personal story to me, and I want to share a bit of the background.
One of my teachers in High School was Wayne Hotelling who was the father of Laurel, a child born with Down Syndrome. Laurel was able to overcome many of her disabilities due to the efforts of her parents. She lived at home with her parents and siblings, participated in girl scouts and her church, and graduated from the Silver Creek High School. After graduating, she attended The Learning Center for individuals with disabilities. While there she gained the skills to be able to support herself for over thirty years until she passed in 2017 due to an uncorrectable heart defect.
For the past twenty years, I have helped raise money for the Resource Center by either participating in the annual run/walk or by volunteering in other capacities for the event. This year, I have decided that I would be most helpful to the memory of Laurel by participating in the run with my dog Millie to raise money. As such, I am asking you to help me in this effort by making a pledge to the Laurel Run by donating through this Crowdrise page. We are asking for donations from all of our animal-lover friends.
