Help us build a larger facility to meet growing demand to support more children in crisis!!
Our Mission: Blessing House serves as a safety net for families in crisis by providing a safe shelter for children and support for their family.
When Blessing House started 15 years ago in a 3,000 square foot house, it seemed so big! But over 1,500 children later, we have found that it wasn't so big after all.
The need for services has grown and our waiting list is constant and can include 40 to 50 children on any given day. Families are dealing with domestic violence, substance abuse and homelessness. They have mental and physical health issues, but have no one to care for their children so they can get the proper care they need. Families are struggling, especially during these last few months as they have dealt with the economic, health and social challenges of COVID-19. We help as many as we can, but there just hasn't been enough room.
This is a line that has been repeated too often, accompanied with regret and frustration. We needed to do something.
Our Future: Our founders, Sr. Mary Berigan and Donna Humphrey, along with the Blessing House Board of Directors, completed a strategic planning process that resulted in our primary goal: To build a new facility for the children of Blessing House.
This new home would be larger to accommodate more children; would have more space for a wider range of children’s activities and would be more efficient to make better use of staff’s time. All the while, we did not want to lose the genuine sense of 'home' that children have come to trust and love when staying at Blessing House.
Our plans are now on the way to becoming a reality. We broke ground for our new building in June and expect completion in Spring, 2021. To complete our task, we are going to need your help!
