I'm taking this opportunity on my very first triathlon to raise money and most importantly awareness for the Parkinson's Foundation. My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's last year and it has changed the texture of her life in ways I can't even imagine.
I never properly learned a sustainable freestyle stroke and my perseverance to become comfortable in the water is inspired by her perseverance each and every day. Please have a look at the foundation and what it aims to achieve at the address below. If you feel so inclined, any little bit will help and because April is Parkinson's Awareness Month all donations will be matched until the end of the month.
The Parkinson's Foundation is the leader in ensuring better medical care; educating and empowering the Parkinson's community; and driving the understanding of Parkinson's through research. These guiding pillars of our work will allow us to take a chronic, degenerative disease and give people hope of independence and quality of life.
